Craving for pepperoni pizza or some zesty salsa? And along with pretzel too? I haven’t had these Combos snacks for a really long time and I decided to get some since I was hungry. The Combos have a filling in the pretzel that has that has different flavors that you’re craving for.
Boy! I had fun enjoying them as a snack while waiting the long line going to the MILE! They’re a good snack to have sometimes when you’re busy and have to rush to something especially when you’re craving for everything at once. There’s nothing that I can explain about these pretzels than that they’re pretty amazing when you take the first bite out of it. Try it if you haven’t for a long time or haven’t at all! :)
I forgot my water bottle yesterday! I was really thirsty. I didn’t want to waste money and buy a $1.40 water bottle, but I had no choice, so I went to the vending machine and bought the EXPENSIVE water. Then out of nowhere the vending machine made a weird noise and a tiny paper came out. I was thinking “what in the world is this?” and I took it out of the slot and it was a coupon for free 20 oz. coke. I thought it was pretty neat, in a way I was benefited (buy one get one free kind of deal). Hehe. =D
I was thirsty again when I was leaving campus and I forgot to refill the water bottle that I got earlier. I had an urge for McDonald’s sweet tea on my way home from Marta. As I got out of Marta, I rushed to my car and got on the road as soon as possible. When I got to McDonald’s, I got the $1 sweet tea or any soft drink deal. As I approached to the fountain drinks, filled my cup with some ice, and pressed down the button for sweet tea. There was no more, so I told one of the employees and he went back to make/get some more. I think this will be the first and last time that I will wait for something that long when I really wanted it. It took forever; I was going to give up waiting. I went back to the front and asked how much longer it will be. He was like “there’s no more” and I said like “I told one of the workers earlier”, and he was like “I’ll fill it up for you”. Inside, I was jumping up and down and screaming “yay!” As soon he did, I took a sip of it, everything seems so much better after that sip. Boy! I love sweet tea and I was satisfied for the day and my thirst! :)
Congee! I love saying this word and I also enjoy this type of Asian food. It’s a type of rice porridge; it can be plain or you can add different kinds of ingredients to your desire. For the Chinese way, I like to add preserved egg or salty egg. It’s similar how Americans eat oatmeal for breakfast and Chinese people eat congee for breakfast. But American’s oatmeal is sweet and congee is toward the savory side. I also like to eat it along with Chinese bread too.
I think it’s one of the easiest foods to make. I learned how cook it when I was about 11 years old. When I make congee, I usually put ¾ to 1 cup of rice along with 10-11 cups of water, then boil the grains of rice and water for approximately an hour. I usually like my congee to be watery and not too thick. When it’s ready to serve, add salt to your own preference. Congee does look like it’s easy to cook, but it needs the time to boil to the right texture. Patience is the key to this recipe!
Every Chinese person said that it’s good to eat especially when you’re sick. Eating plain congee with a hence of salt can help purify your body when you had a very unhealthy meal the day before. No matter what the people say, I like to enjoy congee anytime and any day
I usually buy mac and cheese cook and serve boxes. They’re really convenience, fast, and easy to make especially when you’re dying in hunger. I decided to make it from scratch for my brother’s birthday party and also let my good friends be guinea pigs.
I searched for some good and easy recipes to give it a try. I had a friend that helped me browse around too. Finally, we came across a recipe where it had good ratings and feedbacks and easy to access the ingredients. Home Style Macaroni and Cheese, yum.
But some of the ingredients that was called for; I switch the measurements around and play around with the recipe. I wanted to cook the one box of macaroni elbow because I thought it was weird just measuring 7 ounces and don’t know what to do with the rest. I played around with the servings and finally got to the right numbers. 15 servings equals to one box of elbow macaroni (1 pound or 16 ounces per box). I didn’t have any handy measurements spoons with me so for the butter and all-purpose flour; I didn’t add the 2 tablespoons. The recipe called for 2 ½ packages of cream cheese instead I added only 2 packages, added an extra cup of sharp Cheddar cheese, and didn’t add any Dijon mustard. I didn’t top it with any bread crumbs either. It was my first time, I didn’t expect the best but at least it was edible with at least some mac and cheese flavor.
Overall it turned out pretty nice and had the mac and cheese flavor. My lovely guinea pigs liked it. =P But I think that in the future I’m going to arrange the measurements again, like add only 1 ½ package of cream cheese or substitute it with heavy cream and add more cheese to it. It was interesting making mac and cheese from scratch for the first. I thought it was going to be even harder, but I don’t think I’m going to make it for fun when I crave for mac and cheese, only once and awhile would be fine.
I love dumplings!! I have been eating dumplings since I was a little girl, either store-bought or homemade. But I like having dumplings homemade. When it’s homemade, you can have whatever you desire and no MSG!
My mom made homemade dumplings recently and I decided to watch and help her prepare the ingredients, so we can have them for lunch. She minced the pork and marinated with salt and soy sauce and added corn starch for better texture for the pork. Whenever people make homemade dumplings, they add lots of different ingredients for the filling such as mushrooms, carrots, and other desire cravings. Since my mom bought excess of napa, which is an Asian type of vegetable, she decided to add it along with the pork. Then she will mix all the ingredients well and let it sit so the marinating process can take a little longer.Since I took the dumplings wrappers beforehand and let it thawed, I was ready to make them. My mom had two different kinds of wrapper, Hong Kong style and Shanghai style. I personally like the Shanghai style because the wrapper is thicker than the Hong Kong style one and I like how it looks after it’s cooked too. We were finally done with the filling and wrapping with the dumplings. My mom was starting to steam and pan fry it too. I think pan frying is the best way to cook it; I enjoy it the most when it’s cook like that and then serve it with soy sauce or hot sauce. Yummy!
Homemade dumpling is something fun to do with the family and then enjoying it together after the outcome. It’s even tastier since you know that that person prepared it from the heart and worked hard on mincing the pork. I think that’s the hardest job since my mom chopped it by hand with the knife and cutter board (It was just a chopping motion the whole time back and forth). It’s also healthier too since there’s no MSG! YUMMY IN MY TUMMY!
